Champions Trophy venues

Pakistan has proposed four venues for the upcoming event. Among these venues are Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Dubai. All of India’s matches will take place in Dubai.

Three matches will be played at Karachi’s National Stadium, which has a capacity of 34,238. Three matches will be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which can accommodate 15,000 spectators. The matches will be spread across these four cities to provide attendees with a diverse experience

Champions Trophy 2025 Format

Champions Trophy is an exciting and fun tournament in which eight teams participate. The teams are divided into two groups, each consisting of four teams.

As part of the group stage, each team will play three matches against the other teams in its group. Each team will receive points based on its performance:

  • Win: 2 points
  • Tie or No result: 1 point
  • Lose: 0 points

The top 2 teams from each group, determined by points earned and a special rule known as net run rate (NRR), advance to the semi-finals. Therefore, every match is crucial, since even one loss can result in a team being eliminated.

Teams did not Qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

India, Australia, and New Zealand were among the first three teams to qualify based on their performance at the 2023 ODI World Cup. Pakistan secured automatic entry into the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy as the host nation.

Despite a poor World Cup performance, Sri Lanka finished 9th and failed to qualify, while England secured the last spot. Notably, Afghanistan will make its Champions Trophy debut after a strong World Cup showing.

West Indies, Scotland, Zimbabwe, and Ireland will not participate in the 2023 ODI World Cup as they cannot qualify. This exclusion represents a significant change, as historically strong teams will not be participating in the tournament.

Implications and Excitements

The Champions Trophy returns with not only a promise of high-quality cricket but also an opportunity to showcase emerging talent and seasoned veterans. As the competition format demands consistency from teams, each match is crucial.
